This is a true story.
Liao Shiyuan, a villager from Xinmin Village, Fa’er Township, Shuicheng County, Liupanshui City, was working part-time jobs in Zhejiang Province. In April 2012, when he learned that the “Sunshine Year-Round Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Cooperatives of Shuicheng County” were helping sove the job placement problems for drug addicts in rural areas, he immediately harried back to his hometown. A few years ago, Liao Shiyuan got addicted to drugs because of wrong friends. After released from the rehabilitation center, he had no job and no source of income and could only go to Zhejiang for part-time job with the travel expense his parents borrowed for him. After several years of hard efforts, Liao Shiyuan became a skilled worker from an apprentice, and his income rose to 4,000 yuan per month from the originally minimum sustenance allowance. Although having a stable income, Liao Shiyuan was not satisfied because he was far away from home. In the dead of night, he often missed his parents and his hometown. “In fact, my income every year is mostly spent on rents, living expenses, and the travelling fee for going home during Spring Festival. I want to have a job near home,” Liao Shiyuan said.
The “Sunshine Year-Round Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Cooperatives of Shuicheng County” helped him realizing the long-desired dream.
Under the support of the government and the Fruits and Vegetables Cooperative, Liao Shiyuan built two greenhouses totaling 360 square meters after returning home. Liao Shiyuan planted cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers in the greenhouse. Today, Liao’s greenhouses have generated good harvest. Vegetable traders come to his greenhouses for purchase by wholesale every day. “The vegetable greenhouses not only guaranteed my future livelihood, but also allow the villagers to look upon me with admiration. I can finally stand up as a man.” Liao Shiyuan showed a long-lost confidence on the swarthy face.
