Preventing abuse of power in physical exam for civil service candidates

China’s exceptionally thorough physical examination of civil service candidates has been a controversial issue in recent years. As people’s awareness of privacy and personal rights increases, they are beginning to doubt the appropriateness and principle of proportionality concerning regulations on the physical examination of civil service candidates issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Ministry of Health in 2005.
