A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday defended the country's investment in a protest-troubled copper mine project in Myanmar and called on all parties in Myanmar to create a favorable environment for the project's progress.

"Myanmar's Monywa-Latpadantaung copper mine is a mutually beneficial cooperative project between China and Myanmar," Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing in response to a question regarding recent protests at the site.[Read More]

China's ambassador to the United Nations in Vienna said on Thursday that progress has been made in implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Action Plan on Nuclear Safety.

Cheng Jingye told a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors that progress has been made since the IAEA General Conference unanimously endorsed the Action Plan on Nuclear Safety in September 2011.[Read More]
