Shanghai entered its major flood season Monday, the Shanghai Flood Control Headquarters announced.
The flood season usually runs between July and September when typhoons, rainstorms and astronomical tides are most likely to have an effect on the city.
The city's flood prevention departments have inspected prevention facilities and initiated an emergency response system for 65 roads downtown and 24 roads in the suburbs that are prone to flood.
