The High People's Court in Beijing said on Sunday that the reported sentencing of 10 people in a case involving unlawful detention was factually incorrect.
According to a report on Sunday morning in the Beijing Youth Daily, the city's Chaoyang District People's Court handed down sentences to 10 people who prevented residents from petitioning over their grievances in the capital. The report said that the crime was illegal detention.
But the High People's Court denied the report and said it was untrue.
