A total of 29 servicewomen of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) were elected deputies to the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), making up 10.8 percent of all the PLA deputies, an increase of 2.6 percent over that of the 11th NPC.
Since the year 2012, the PLA and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) have actively strengthened and improved servicewomen's work and effectively given full play to servicewomen’s important role in accelerating the modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the general headquarters/departments of the PLA have been attaching great importance to servicewomen's work, vigorously promoting the formulation and implementation of related policies aiming at helping servicewomen to grow up and make progress, and encouraging servicewomen to make great contributions and accomplish great tasks at their posts. The first batch of female ground crews of the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the PLA totaling 18 have graduated with excellent academic performance, the first batch of female sailors of the PLA Navy totaling 27 have passed the assessment on warships, the first batch of female fighter pilots of the PLA Air Force have completed solo flight of J-10 fighter and the officers and women of the Women's Missile Launch Company under the Second Artillery Force (SAF) of the PLA have trained hard to master skills and developed all-around actual-combat capability. A large number of top-notch trainees, technical experts and model servicewomen have stood out from all the female officers and soldiers of the PLA.
