Pushy parents turn matchmaking events into ‘marriage fairs’ (14)

A mother reads information of unmarried youngsters.

Every week, over 500 aged people in their 50’s and 60’s, carrying the information about their unmarried children, will gather in the parks to talk about love and wedding. The match-making event and corners are very popular in China.

However, young single people are seldom seen here. Instead, their parents attend, keeping an eye out for suitable future in-laws, not for themselves, but for their children. Some pushy parents even bar their children from the face-to-face meetings at the events.
