KUNMING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A forest fire that broke out early Thursday morning in southwest China's Yunnan Province has been contained with no casualties reported, authorities said late Thursday.

Some 2,000 people were mobilized to put out a fire that erupted around 2:30 a.m. on the Yangzonghai forest farm in Yiliang County in the city of Kunming City before it was contained around 4 p.m., said an official from the municipal forest fire prevention headquarters.

The forest's trees are mostly inflammable pines and alders and topography conditions were complicated at the site, the official said.

Forestry police, professional firefighters and local residents combined their efforts to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
