BEIJING, August 5 (ChinaMil) -- The "Peace Ark" hospital ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) wrapped up its six-day-long visit and medical services to Pakistan, and left the Port of Karachi on the morning of August 4, 2013 to visit India's Bombay.
Pakistan is the fourth stop of the "Harmonious Mission 2013" of the "Peace Ark" hospital ship of the PLAN. During its stop in Pakistan, the hospital ship conducted out-patient treatments for 2,029 persons/times, carried out auxiliary examinations for 1,130 persons/times, and performed 28 operations.
Besides, the hospital ship dispatched medical teams to offer medical services to the Shifa Hospital of the Pakistan Navy, make medical tour to the Baihadu military training base, and offer health education and make donations to a special children's school in Karachi.
The hospital ship also took the opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with medical workers of the Pakistani side. It held a China-Pakistan medical forum, performed four operations jointly, conducted a joint drill on war wound rescue, and received 346 visiting medical workers of the Pakistani side.
The "Peace Ark" hospital ship has become the focus of local officials, residents and media in the past few days. Asif Sandila, chief of staff of the Pakistan Navy, adjusted his plan, visited the ship and led 30-odd generals to take part in the deck reception.
Shen Hao, commander of the mission, and Zaheer Ahmad, president of the Shifa Hospital of the Pakistan Navy, held a press briefing on the "Peace Ark" hospital ship. All main local media gave a detailed coverage of the briefing, highly praising the "Peace Ark" hospital ship for making new achievements for Pakistan-China friendship.
