GULF OF ADEN, July 15 (ChinaMil) -- The "Peace Ark" hospital ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) anchored at 09:00 on July 12, 2013, local time, alongside of the "Harbin" guided missile destroyer which was on the 14th escort mission in the waters of the Gulf of Aden and began to offer medical services to the escort officers and men.
The officers and men of the "Harbin" warship underwent various physical examinations at the Department of Internal Medicine, the Surgical Department, the Department of Stomatology, the Department of Ophthalmology, the Otolaryngological Department, the Electrocardiogram Department, the Department of Color Ultrasonography, the Radiology Department and the Department of Clinical Laboratories of the "Peace Ark" hospital ship.
Zhang Zhe, an escort serviceman who received psychotherapy, said that such treatment was unexpectedly available in the Gulf of Aden and his anxiety caused by long-time escort work was reduced considerably.
Ma Haiying, associate researcher with the Psychological Research Center under the Naval Medical Research Institute of the PLAN, said that the psychotherapy could effectively help escort officers and men get rid of stress, anxiety and insomnia, and thus tap into their potential.
According to Guan Bolin, deputy commander of the taskforce, the "Peace Ark" hospital ship would offer the escort officers and men of the "Harbin" ship such medical services as medical tour, physical examinations, disease diagnosis and treatment, hospitalized rest and recuperation, psychotherapy and so on.
The "Peace Ark" hospital ship offered medical services to 230 persons/times of the "Harbin" warship on July 13.
It is learn that the hospital ship is scheduled to offer medical services to a Netherlands warship of the NATO Task Force (NTF) 508 and carry out medical exchanges with it.
