VLADIVOSTOK, July 9 (ChinaMil) -- The "Shijiazhuang" guided missile destroyer of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) and the "Varyag" cruiser, flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet, which are participating in the maritime joint exercise code-named "Maritime Joint Exercise 2013", were open to the local residents and attracted many visitors on July 6, 2013.
Bian Huili, a Chinese girl who was travelling in Vladivostok, got the latest news on the open day activity on TV and came to queue up for a visiting ticket early on the morning of July 6. She was lucky enough to be one of the first visitors to China's "Shijiazhuang" guided missile destroyer. "I suddenly felt I was at home when I boarded the mighty warship," said she.
Qu Hui, a man who came from northeast China and was engaging in trade in Vladivostok, sighed with feeling while visiting the warship. He and his friends have been trading in Russia for nearly ten years. Usually, they keep abreast of China's development and changes on TV or the Internet. He felt really proud to be able to board China's warship in the Peter the Great Gulf that day.
Li Yi, an overseas student from China, had always been fixing his eyes on the official website of Vladivostok since being informed of the impending arrival of the PLAN taskforce. Knowing that the warship will be open on July 6, he got up shortly before 06:00 and drove more than an hour to the Port of Vladivostok. "As a military fan, I have been dreaming for years of personally visiting China's warship and the Russian Pacific Fleet. My dream comes true today!" said he.
By the way, Li Yi voluntarily offered interpretation and information for Chinese officers and men all day long. And therefore, he was always awfully busy when the reporter conducted interviews on the warship.
Zhang Yongli, a man from northeast China who was inviting overseas investments in Vladivostok and his words got the same resonance among many visitors. "As the bridgehead of the large China-Russia land and sea passage, Vladivostok is chosen for the place to hold the maritime joint exercise. I think it is a positive signal for promoting peace and stability of East Asia. Therefore, we all sincerely wish the joint exercise a complete success," said Zhang.
