BEIJING, July 10 (ChinaMil) -- The reporter of the PLA Daily learnt from the Leading Group Office for Responding to Emergencies of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) on July 9, 2013 that according to related planning and arrangements of the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the PLA and local governments will rely on professional forces to establish a national nuclear emergency rescue team that can take on serious and major nuclear accident emergency rescue missions.
According to a person in charge of the Leading Group Office for Responding to Emergencies of the PLA, the general headquarters/departments of the PLA have successively assigned subordinate organizations as well as related major organizations to undertake emergency rescue for local nuclear power plants in accordance with mission requirements of the National Nuclear Accident Emergency Coordination Committee since 1997, providing reliable support for safe development of China's national nuclear power industry.
The first-ever "National Nuclear Emergency Publicity Week" was held from July 3 to 9, 2013. The activity showed close military-civilian cooperation and related achievements that can ensure the safety of China’s national nuclear power industry.
