BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 18 (ChinaMil) -- In a press interview held on June 17, 2013, Fu Bingcai, member of the directing department and medical service commander of the Chinese side, gave a briefing on the main situation of the Chinese medical service troops taking part in the joint exercise under the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus).
The exercise is the first multinational actual-troop joint exercise under the ADMM-Plus mechanism. Around 320 people from the medical service troops of various countries participated in the joint exercise. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) dispatched a 35-member medical service detachment and the "Peace Ark" hospital ship of the Navy of the PLA to attend the joint exercise.
China is one of the co-chair countries of the joint exercise. The Chinese medical service troops took part in all the parts of the joint exercise on military medicine.
The participating medical service personnel and equipment of the PLA were transported to the exercise areas in Brunei by a landing ship and a hospital ship of the Navy of the PLA and a transport plane of the Air Force of the PLA in the form of three-dimensional transport on the sea and in the air. The exercise is a joint one abroad of the PLA with the most methods of transporting medical service troops, further tempering the PLA's capability for long-range transportation during international disaster medical rescue.
