BEIJING, May 21, (ChinaMil) -- Chang Wanquan, state councilor and minister of national defense of the People's Republic of China (PRC), met with Paulino Macaringue, the visiting chief of general staff of the Defense Forces of Mozambique, and his party on the afternoon of May 20, 2013 in Beijing.
Chang Wanquan expressed that Mozambique is one of China's good friends and good partners in Africa. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Mozambican side to implement the consensus reached by the heads of the two countries, so as to constantly uplift the bilateral relations to a new high.
Chang Wanquan pointed out that in recent years, the Chinese and Mozambican militaries have made frequent contacts with each other and carried out increasingly intensive cooperation in such fields as personnel training and equipment technology. He believed that the relations between the two militaries will grow closer and the bilateral cooperation will be more intensive with the efforts of both sides.
Macaringue said that the traditional Mozambique-China friendship dates back to Mozambique's struggle for national liberation. The Chinese side has offered long-term unconditional help and support to the Mozambican side.
Macaringue also said that in recent years, the two militaries have made close contacts with each other and achieved fruitful results from the bilateral cooperation in various fields. The Mozambican side will work together with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the heads of the two countries, so as to promote the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the two militaries to a new high.
