New-type guided missile frigate commissioned to PLA Navy

The commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the "Datong" warship, a new-type guided missile frigate of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), was held on the morning of May 18, 2013 at a military port of a military base in Lvshun city in northeast China's Liaoning province.

　BEIJING, May 20, (ChinaMil) -- With the hull number of 580, the "Datong" warship is China's independently-developed new-type guided missile frigate. After its commissioning to the PLA Navy, the warship is mainly responsible for patrol, alert and escort, and such missions as anti-ship and anti-submarine operations independently or with other naval strength.
