BEIJING, May 14, (ChinaMil) -- When commenting on the U.S. annual report of 2013 Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China, Maj. Gen. Luo Yuan, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Strategy and Culture Promotion Association and former deputy director of the World Military Research Department of the Academy of Military Sciences (AMS) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), pointed out that the U.S. annual report on China's military power is actually a product of the Cold War as well as a continuation of the Cold War mentality. As he stated, we should provide proper explanations to those who have doubts on China's military development, but for those harboring evil intentions, we can only give them a snort of contempt.
A netizen submitted such a question: "In regard to the erroneous practice of the U.S., can China also release a 'report on U.S. military power' as a tooth-for-tooth measure, making announcement about how much the U.S. military spending is and how many disasters the U.S. has caused for the wars it wages around the world?"
Luo Yuan stated that I think this proposal is very wise in that it pays a man back in his own coin. In fact, the U.S. is the country which has the largest military spending around the world. It is the country which has initiated the most wars all over the world and incurred the most humanitarian disasters. Many insightful people in the U.S. have a clear introspection on this. China should also announce a report on the U.S. military power in due time so that the truth can be revealed.
According to Luo Yuan, in the name of a civil think tank, the China Strategy and Culture Promotion Association already published the assessment reports on the U.S. military power and the Japan's military power for the first time last year, which has drawn significant responses.
