BEIJING, May 6, (ChinaMil) -- Foreign military attachés to China from 55 countries and their wives totaling 100 persons left Beijing on May 6 for a collective visit to the Guangzhou Theatre at the invitation of the Chinese Defense Ministry.
During their visit to the Guangzhou Theater, the foreign military attachés will visit cities including Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Zhanjiang and Guilin where they will be briefed on the development of the Guangzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the PLA Hong Kong Garrison and the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy, visit troop units of the PLA Army and Navy and some industrial enterprises .
The Chinese Defense Ministry arranges visits of places outside Beijing for foreign military attachés to China every year.
The purpose for the visit by foreign military attaches to the Guangzhou Theater aims at showcasing the achievements of China's reform and opening up as well as the PLA's modernization drive, letting foreign military attachés know more about the economic and social development in south China's coastal areas and development of the PLA units in the Guangzhou Theater, and promoting the military-to-military friendly cooperation between China and relevant countries.
