BEIJING, May 16, (ChinaMil) -- The command and confrontation drill of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) code-named "Beyond-2013A" was concluded on May 14, 2013.
It is learnt that the drill was simultaneously conducted on networks in Nanjing, capital city of east China's Jiangsu province, and Guigang of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The command-and-staff organ of a division under the PLA Guangzhou Military Area Command (MAC) was the "Red Army" in the drill, and a simulated command post composed of 60-odd professors from the PLA Nanjing Army Command College was the "Blue Army". The two sides conducted attack-and-defense confrontation drills by reversing roles.
A leader of the Military Training Department under the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the PLA said that the drill was aimed at further promoting training of combat units more closely to real battles and encouraging academic education to meet demands of troop units.
Wang Pei, chief director of the drill and president of the Nanjing Army Command College, told PLA Daily that experts at different disciplines from eight military academies including the PLA Electronic Engineering Institute, the PLA National Defense Information Institute and the PLA Navy Command College jointly participated in the drill.
