Taiwanese F-16 fighter jet crashes into sea

TAIPEI, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A Taiwanese F-16 fighter jet crashed in waters near Chiayi County on Wednesday afternoon, according to local media reports.

The pilot managed to eject from the craft before it crashed and was later rescued. He suffered minor injuries.

An engine malfunction may have caused the crash, which occurred during a routine training mission.
