(CNTV)

15:33, February 07, 2013

China’s highest executive body, the State Council has unveiled a blueprint and action plan to develop China into a "circular" economy, the first of its kind in the country.

A circular economy is one which attempts to strike a balance between economic development with environmental and resources protection. According to the plan, China will actively promote a circular economy and green consumption for both the mid and long term.

The move aims to boost resource efficiency and ensure sustainable development. The State Council also set out a short-term goal of raising resource efficiency by 15 percent by the end of 2015...while also vowing to improve related green policies, its legal framework, and strengthening environmental regulation and cooperation.
