ZARANJ, Afghanistan, June 1 (Xinhua)-- A group of Taliban militants raided the headquarters and police department in Dilaram district of Nimroz province,790 km west of Kabul on Saturday, leaving two people dead including an attacker and injuring four policemen, a local official said.
"A group of Taliban rebels stormed the police department and district headquarters of Dilaram district at around 04:20 p.m. local time today and police retaliated killing an attacker on the spot and forcing others to run away," police chief of Dilaram district Hajji Najibullah told Xinhua.
In the attack which followed by gun battle, one police was killed and four others sustained injuries in the fight which lasted for about an hour, he added.
Taliban militants have intensified their activities since launching spring offensive on April 28 and also carried out massive attack on the Governor Office of Panjshir province 80 km north of Kabul on Wednesday, are yet to comment on Saturday's attack in Dilaram district.
