HAVANA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Cuban President Raul Castro held talks Monday with visiting Saint Lucia Prime Minister Kenny Anthony, to enhance cooperation and friendship between the two Caribbean countries.
A brief official release issued after the meeting said the two leaders reviewed the state of the bilateral relations and expressed their mutual willingness to further strengthen these ties besides analyzing the important regional and international issues.
Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel also attended the meeting, among other officials from the two countries.
Anthony arrived early Monday in Havana for a seven-day official visit.
Cuba and St. Lucia established formal relations in 1979. And Havana has cooperated with Castries mainly in the medical, construction and sports fields since 2001.
