RAMALLAH, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday for more discussions on the latter's efforts to revive peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, a Palestinian official said.
The meeting is the second on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Jordan and the third between the two leaders since Thursday, said Saeb Erekat, the top Palestinian negotiator.
The meeting will focus on the U.S. plan for the resumption of the negotiations, Erekat told Xinhua, adding the plan is being drawn up.
Kerry has begun his mission to revive the long-stalled talks since U.S. President Barack Obama visited the region in March.
On Sunday, Kerry proposed an economic plan of 4 billion U.S. dollars to draw private investment in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, hoping that an improve in the Palestinian economy can help revive the peace talks.
He also stressed that the economic initiative was not a substitute to the political efforts.
Commenting on Kerry's plan, Erekat said: "There is no room for economic plans away from the two-state solution based on the 1967 lines, with Israel's halt in constructing settlements and release of old prisoners."
The Palestinians stress that Israel has to stop settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
