MANILA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III disclosed Tuesday the warfare equipment to be purchased by his administration that will help boost the capability of the Navy.

The country's second class cutter, the BRP Ramon Alcaraz, which came from the United States, is expected to arrive in Manila in August.

"We are planning to buy three multi-purpose attack craft, eight amphibious assault vehicles, two each of frigate and anti- submarine warfare-capable helicopter, and (the plan) to improve our Communication, Intelligence and Surveillance System," he said in the keynote speech at the 115th anniversary of the Philippine Navy held in northern province of Cavite.

The President said that the government is also pushing on the Strategic Sail Plan 2020 of the Philippine Navy, which aims for a stronger and more effective service of the agency.

He said he wants the Filipinos to feel that they are secure wherever they are, whether here in the Philippines or abroad.
