NEW DELHI, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Talks between India and Pakistan have not been frozen, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would decide on Islamabad's offer of foreign minister-level talks, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said on Thursday.
Amid the recent aggression at the international border in the disputed territory of Kashmir, known as the Line of Control (LoC), Khurshid said India admired that Pakistan had understood the " strong message" of Prime Minster Manmohan Singh.
"The differences have to be resolved and for that we need to proceed with wisdom, keeping in mind the interest and sentiments of the nation. We will await the prime minister's direction in this regard," Khurshid said.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar earlier on Thursday has called for talks with Khurshid, saying that continued tension along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir was not in the interest of South Asian peace.
The ongoing skirmish since Jan. 2 between Indian and Pakistani troopers on LoC is escalating tension between the two nuclear neighbors.
Since then five troopers of both the countries (two from India and three from Pakistan) were killed in these skirmishes on LoC.
In the wake of escalation in firing in Kashmir, the cross LoC Trade and travel remains suspended.
