ISLAMABAD, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least six Pakistani security personnel were killed and 16 others injured during an armed clash with militants on Tuesday morning in the country's northwestern region of Khyber Agency, local media reported.
Local Urdu TV channels, quoting official sources, reported that the clash was triggered when security forces started a search operation in the Bara Tehsil area of the Khyber Agency, one of the seven restive tribal regions of Pakistan.
The militants hiding in the area attacked security personnel and killed six of them, leaving 16 others injured including local people.
After the attack, the forces retaliated with full strength.
There were no reports about the number of casualties on the militants'side.
On Jan 4, at least 15 terrorists were shot dead and several others injured in an operation by security forces in Tirah Valley of the same region.
