“You and me, in Beijing” BFSU Summer Camp 2013 launched
“You and me, in Beijing” Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) Summer Camp 2013 was launched in Beijing on July 17. 117 students and teachers from 10 countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Malaysia, Czech, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Germany and Poland will attend the camp.
The summer camp has arranged a lot of colorful events for the students, e.g. Beijing Opera, Kungfu and Chinese magic, and also in-depth experiencing activities such as family visits.
Mr. Wang Yongli, deputy director of Hanban and Confucius Institute Headquarters made a speech to the students. He said that the Confucius Institute is trying to build a platform for all the friends coming from foreign universities and governments. And he hopes it will help people who want to learn Chinese language and further to get in touch with Chinese culture. By getting familiar with Chinese culture, people may understand China better, and then will develop friendship and partnership.
He also said that they would like to invite the students to come to China, so that they can use their own eyes to see China, experience China and specially the Chinese culture. The most important part of the camp is that people get the chance to have face-to-face communication with Chinese people, and see what the real Chinese people are like.
He added, “I think with all the good and bad is real China, and this China is a China in the process of development. I think after you see all these things, you may have a more profound understanding of China. After you experience a real China, I really hope you can tell your family member and friends that China is a great country with friendly and kind people, and the door is always open to you and your friends, welcome to China!”
Mr. Jozsef Lukacs, first secretary of the embassy of Hungary, said that organizing an international summer camp is very useful and he was happy to see a growing number of foreign students are participating in this event.
This year’s event is the 6th annual summer camp organized by BFSU and Hanban. The event has attracted more than 500 students from 14 countries to learn Chinese language and experience Chinese culture.
