BEIJING, July 17 (ChinaMil) -- Gen. Chang Wanquan, state councilor and minister of national defense of the People's Republic of China (PRC), met with Rear Admiral Ng Chee Peng, the visiting chief of the Navy of the Republic of Singapore, in Beijing on July 16, 2013.
Chang Wanquan said that China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Singapore, and regards Singapore as an important and special cooperative partner. The relations between the Chinese and Singaporean militaries have become more mature in recent years, as evidenced by increasingly deepened and expanded exchanges and cooperation in such fields as high-level reciprocal visits, strategic dialogue, reciprocal visits of warships, escort cooperation and joint training. Under the new situation, the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Singaporean side to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two militaries, so as to constantly push forward the development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Ng Chee Peng said that China is an important neighbor of Singapore, and the Singaporean side is committed to strengthening pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two militaries with the Chinese side, so as to constantly promote the cooperation between the two militaries, especially that between the two navies, to a new high.
