British businesses targeting Chinese market (2)

"Britain boasts rich experience in developing service industry and technical innovation, while China, as an emerging big trade and investment country, has released strong potential of market need, posing great prospects of cooperation between the two countries," Zhong said.

Zhong suggested enhanced cooperation in high-end manufacturing, infrastructure investment, low-carbon and green economy, and small and medium-size enterprises.

For his part, Bentley said British industry was especially interested in areas of infrastructure and engineering construction, but added that the British retail brands were also an area where the CBI sought growth.

He noted that Britain still lagged behind its European rivals France and Germany in the Chinese market.
