Xi's inaugural speech makes 'Chinese voices' more influential

Xi Jinping, the newly elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), expressed his gratitude to domestic and foreign reporters at a press conference attended by the new members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau last week.

"In the past days, friends from the press have produced a large volume of reports, spreading lots of ‘Chinese voices’ to various countries in the world. You are all very dedicated, very professional, and hardworking. On behalf of the Secretariat of the 18th National Congress of the Party, I would like to express heartfelt appreciation to you all,” Xi said in his first public speech as chief of the CPC.

Xi’s sincere and pragmatic inaugural speech on behalf of the new Chinese leadership has received positive feedback at home and abroad. In the concise speech, Xi used a lot of words to express the Chinese people’s “aspirations for the beautiful life.” The speech makes various “Chinese voices” heard in some sense.

The “Chinese voices” include the heartfelt wishes of the Chinese people. The deep wishes and desires of more than 1.3 billion Chinese people form a great force promoting the country’s development and reforms and urging the CPC to make constant progress.

The “Chinese voices” also include the CPC’s responses. The selfless Party will always take the people’s wishes and demands as its ultimate goal.

The “Chinese voices” are kind and thought-provoking, simple and realistic.

What kind of situation will China face in the next five years and a longer period? At present, socialism with Chinese characteristics is entering a new stage, and the outlook for a comprehensively well-off society and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation looks unprecedentedly bright. At the same time, China is at a crucial stage of transforming its economic growth model and further deepening comprehensive reforms, and shoulders greater responsibility for promoting world peace and development. The struggle and shift of interests between China and other countries as well as inside China will become clearer and profounder.
