Two passers-by spotted a black-necked crane stuck in an ice hole in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province. Though it was -18℃, they jumped into the waist-high waters, eventually managing to free it. But the bird was close to death because of the freezing cold, so one of the men took off his cloths and held the crane against his body to give it warmth. The plan worked. A first-class protected species in China, the lucky crane has now recovered and has been released back into nature. [Photo: chinanews.com]
