Top 16 'tuhaos' in Chinese history
Wu Bingjian (1769 –1843), also known by the name Wu Dunyuan, was born in Fujian province. Later, he moved to Guangdong with his family. Starting from the generation of his father, Wu Guoying, the family started doing business in foreign trade. There were six Chinese people included in the Wall Street Journal list of 50 richest men from history; Wu Bingjian was one of them.

Tuhao, translating roughly to "uncouth nouveau riche," has been a popular word in China in 2015. Although tuhao is a relatively new word, it is not a new phenomenon.
