Top 16 'tuhaos' in Chinese history
Shen Wansan was an extremely rich man around the transition from the Yuan to Ming Dynasty. According to history, he undertook maritime trade to make money. When Zhu Yuanzhang repaired the city of Nanjing, Shen was responsible for one third of the total cost.

Tuhao, translating roughly to "uncouth nouveau riche," has been a popular word in China in 2015. Although tuhao is a relatively new word, it is not a new phenomenon.
