Hao Jinhai, 87, is a veteran who took part in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. After getting discharged from active duty, he returned to his hometown in Handan, Hebei, and got married in 1956. He and his wife have five children.

In October 1981, Hao's wife Liu Xiangyun had cerebral thrombosis and was paralyzed. From that day on, Hao, who used to be a grumpy man, changed into a totally different person and started to take great care of Liu.

Hao learned how to cook and do all the chores. In order to make sure Liu get the best care, he patiently helps Liu to shower, comb her hair, and give her massage every day. Everyone in the village is moved by Hao's fidelity. Now Hao Jinhai is 87 years old, and he still keeps his "routine" to take care of his wife.
