Rotating Zigzag
"Zhuanjiuqu" is an ancient folk custom in Shaanxi. 367 pieces of sorghum stalk are equidistantly stuck into the ground and connected with square pictures according to certain rules. The path between those fences are of twisted and turns.
"Zhuanjiuqu" shows not only its unique content which is under the influence of special humanity and natural environment, but also the culture connotation which has distinctive farming-oriented consciousness, outstanding beliefs and the strong original view of fertility.
Where to see “Zhuanjiuqu”?
It is a very widespread cultural custom in the northern Shaanxi. Usually the event is held on Jan 15 of Chinese lunar calendar as a part of Lantern Festival celebration. But in some of village, the event is held on Jan 7 or Jan 8.
