MOSCOW, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow Friday for talks on the further development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
The new Chinese leader is also expected to exchange views with Putin on major world and regional issues during the talks.
Xi arrived in Moscow Friday noon for a state visit, the first leg of Xi's first trip abroad after he was elected President of China earlier this month. Both China and Russia have attached great importance to Xi's current visit.
