It was bought by the vendor from a flea market in 2007 for only three U.S. dollars, and has been in his living room ever since. Recently, the vendor invited some experts to appraise the value of the bowl.
According to Sotheby's previous estimate, the auction price of this bowl might be set between 200,000 and 300,000 U.S. dollars. Before the auction, four buyers made a fierce bidding on the bowl. Finally, a famous art collector named Giuseppe Eskenazi from London bought the bowl for 2.23 million U.S. dollars.
