BEIJING, Dec. 14 (People's Daily Online) -- China has lodged solemn representation and protest to Japan over its military aircraft trespassing to China's airspace over the Diaoyu Islands, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Friday.

Hong made the remarks in response to a question on the Japanese side's move to scramble military aircraft as China's maritime surveillance plane patrolled the Diaoyu Islands on Thursday.

Hong said the Chinese Foreign Ministry has urged the Japanese side to take China's solemn position seriously and stop all acts that infringes upon or harms China's territorial sovereignty.
