Senior CPC official pledges closer cooperation with Australia

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Li Yuanchao, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Tuesday met with a delegation of Australia's Coalition, pledging to boost cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation was headed by Julie Bishop, deputy leader of the Liberal Party of Australia and Warren Truss, leader of the National Party of Australia.

Li said the Chinese side is ready to make joint efforts with Australia to take the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to enhance strategic trust in each other and expand reciprocal cooperation to better benefit the people of the two countries.

During the meeting, Li also briefed the Australians on the 18th national congress of the CPC that concluded last month.

The CPC attaches importance to its ties with the Coalition, and is willing to increase exchanges with the group of parties on governance and advance the China-Australia relationship in an enduring, healthy and stable way.

The Australian guests said the prosperity, security and stability of China is conducive to the Asia-Pacific region as well as the whole world.

The Australian side paid great attention to the CPC national congress, and is ready to boost exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese party to further advance the ties with each other, the guests said.
