Five killed in China makeshift house fire

Five people were killed in a makeshift house fire in central China's Hunan Province Thursday morning, local authorities said.

The fire engulfed a makeshift house on the side of a provincial-level road in Fangyuan township of Guiyang county at about 4 a.m. Thursday, the county government said in a statement.

The fire burned 100 square meters of the house and killed five people living inside, it said.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
