HANGZHOU, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A 25-year-old man who set fire to a building killing eight people and injuring another was sentenced to death by a court in east China's Zhejiang Province on Saturday.

The Intermediate People's Court in Taizhou City handed down the penalty to Lin Binwei, who was accused of setting fire to a building on Feb. 23 as way of retaliation against a man surnamed Liu, due to a personal conflict.

In court, Lin said he had no objection to the accusation.

Lin admitted that he took revenge against Liu because he thought his girlfriend was having an affair with Liu.

Liu, owner of an online shoe shop, stored products in the building on the first floor.

Lin set fire to the property and it spread to residential homes upstairs.
