CHANGSHA, May 1 (Xinhua) -- A suspension bridge at a popular tourist site in central China collapsed on Wednesday evening, with an unknown number of people falling into a river.
Some tourists were already rescued after the accident happened at around 9:10 p.m. in Fenghuang county, Hunan Province. But it remains unclear if someone were injured or missing, a county official told Xinhua over the phone.
Some users of Sina Weibo, a popular microblogging service, said many people were on the bridge when the accident happened, after they attended a bonfire party.
