TAIPEI, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A collision between two railway maintenance vehicles injured eight people in Hualien, Taiwan on Wednesday, local railway authorities said.
The accident happened at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the vehicles were being used to erect power lines. A preliminary investigation showed that improper operation caused one of the vehicles' flatbeds to slide, resulting in a collision and derailment.
Eight workers suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals.
Transportation was temporarily suspended on the railway where the accident occurred, affecting over 1,200 travelers. Transportation resumed around 9:10 a.m. the same day.
