GUANGZHOU, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A fire that broke out on Thursday morning in a residential building in Maoming City, south China's Guangdong Province, has left five dead and another five injured.
Fire fighters said that three women and two men living on the fourth and fifth floors of the building in Dianbai County had died from suffocation when they arrived. They sent another five injured to hospital.
The fire was brought under control at around 7:10 a.m., 40 minutes after it broke out.
Fire fighters said the flame from electrical wires might have been triggered from battery charging of an electric motor in the building.
