13 missing after ship sinks in E China

JINAN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- One person has been rescued and 13 others remain missing after a container ship sank in east China's Bohai Bay on Monday afternoon, local maritime authorities said.

The ship carrying 14 crew members was traveling from the northern coastal city of Tianjin to the coastal city of Taizhou in eastern Zhejiang Province, according to the Yantai Maritime Safety Administration.

Maritime authorities were alerted to the incident at around 4:30 p.m.

Rescue work is underway.
