HANGZHOU, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- A major fire that killed three firefighters on Tuesday in east China's Zhejiang Province has been confirmed to be an act of arson, local police said Friday.
A suspect surnamed Li is in custody, the police said, adding that the fire is still under investigation.
The blaze broke out around 3 a.m. in a workshop operated by Hangzhou Yusei Machinery Co., Ltd. in the Xiaoshan district of the provincial capital of Hangzhou.
It took nearly 400 firefighters about nine hours to bring the fire under control.
The three victims went missing while trying to extinguish the fire. They were later found by rescuers and rushed to a local hospital, where attempts to save them failed.
