A local government official stood trial on suspicion of hiring two assassins to murder his mistress at Beijing First Intermediate People's Court Monday, the Legal Mirror reported Wednesday.

Luo Shaojie, 48, former secretary of the Working Committee of Qianmen Sub-district Administrative Office, is accused of hiring Ma Weihua and Ye Xuejun to murder his mistress, surnamed Xiong, after they had quarreled.

On September 14, Ma and Ye allegedly lured Xiong to an apartment and used a stick to kill her. The next day, they took the body to Dongcheng district and dismembered her, then disposing of the parts.

Luo admitted hiring the two men, but denied asking them to dismember Xiong.
