A senior official from Southwest China's Sichuan Province has allegedly been put under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the CPC Central Committee, in what amounts to the highest official caught in the anti-corruption storm since the country's leadership reshuffle in mid-November, Caijing.com reported Wednesday.
Li Chuncheng, deputy secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, was elected as one of the 171 alternate members of the Central Committee during the 18th CPC National Congress on November 14. It was his second term, said a Xinhua report.
According to the Chengdu-based Sichuan Daily, Li did not show up at an important meeting held by a delegation from Beijing on December 4.
"He had left Chengdu on December 3," according to the website of the Beijing-based Caijing magazine.
Trading of shares in Chengdu based B-ray Media Limited, a company reportedly founded due to Li's efforts, was suspended after falling 10 percent on Wednesday.
