BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-four people were killed and another six went missing in natural disasters across China last month, official statistics showed on Thursday.
Figures released by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Committee for Disaster Reduction also showed that 2.82 million residents on the Chinese mainland were affected by disasters and 168,000 people were forced to relocate.
Last month, the country was hit by landslides, typhoons and frost.
The disasters caused direct economic losses of 2.21 billion yuan (354 million U.S. dollars), with about 1,800 homes demolished and 258,200 hectares of farmland affected, according to authorities.
The financial losses were similar to that in October last year.
