Standard of living rising

The Shanghai Engel coefficient for urban residents was 35.5 percent in 2011, indicating a change in the structure of local consumption, local media reported Wednesday. The change shows that daily necessities now account for a smaller proportion of local consumption as a reading between 30 percent and 40 percent indicates a well-to-do standard of living.
